POSITION OVERVIEW: 

We are currently looking for a Public Relations and Social Media Manager with at least 3 years’ related experience. This position is responsible for day-to-day client account activity and requires strategic communication and a focus on attention to detail in project coordination. The ideal candidate will have media pitching experience, demonstrated media placement results and social media management expertise. National media placement results a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Write press releases, media alerts, pitches, press kit materials, etc.
  • Pitch media and bloggers on client news and story angles and manage story/interview coordination
  • Proactively create new seasonal/trend story angles
  • Create and manage client-specific media lists
  • Participate in client meetings and creatively contribute to brainstorms
  • Utilize social media to engage with media and influencers
  • Provide dependable, day-to-day support to senior team members
  • Conduct ongoing competitive, industry and client-specific research and media monitoring
  • Compile client activity reports and recap presentations
  • Assist with content creation, community management, broadcast plans and reporting/analysis for social media accounts
  • Cultivate relationships with media on behalf of the agency
  • Maintain media placement clips for clients
  • Coordination with advertising, creative and paid media disciplines

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or closely related field
  • Minimum 3 years of previous agency or in-house experience required
  • Passion for media relations with a portfolio that includes local market and regional press coverage, with national media placements a bonus
  • A fearless attitude for developing smart, targeted pitches
  • Solid understanding of newsworthiness with an ability to spot trends. Must be a daily consumer of news and entertainment across multiple platforms
  • Great communicator with exceptional writing capabilities, including knowledge of AP Style
  • Experience utilizing multiple social media platforms in a professional setting
  • Experience with social media reporting and social listening tools; Google Analytics reporting a bonus
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative environment but is self-motivated to work autonomously
  • Professionalism, attention to detail and a positive attitude are a must
